Wildlife Quiz With Schools
Environment awareness & dispersing knowledge about local bio-diversity is a priority with us. FODS conducts an annual environment and wild life quiz for school children in collaboration with the prestigious Wild Life Institute of India and in their campus itself.
Day Schools and Boarding Schools of Dehradun are invited to participate in the contest which covers a wide range of topics related to the rich bio-diversity of Uttrakhand as well as the nation. The quiz is for students from class IX, X and XI. This quiz has been taking place successfully for the past fourteen years and coincides with World Wildlife Week in the first week of October.
It takes days to prepare for appropriate and fresh question bank as well as solicit the support and co-ordination of participating schools. WII has an enormous repository of wildlife archives, films, research data etc. which FODS taps into for preparation of the annual quiz with huge support from WII senior research students. Cash prizes for the winning team and a running trophy in memory of Samir Ghosh (a standing member of FODS) is given.
